The cult section of the literary world

William Pauley III

“THE BROTHERS CRUNK is a bizarrely imaginative blend of sci-fi, horror and fantasy adventure… creativity has never flowed so freely….a perfect example of bizarro fiction… every single line is littered with wild and imaginative ideas.” – FANGORIA

“Genre splicing is not something new in the realm of bizarro. But, Jesus H., William Pauley has pulled off an impressive feat by combining every genre, subgenre, and concept known to man. Phew! If you like westerns, cyberpunk, steampunk, splatterpunk, sci-fi, urban fantasy, sword-and-sandal epics, space operas, and porn, then you’ll eat [DOOM MAGNETIC!] up.” – THE AUTHOR’S SPEAK

“If William Burroughs and David Lynch were to have a love child together, and if that love child were to write pulp westerns with a dark sense of humor, the end result might look a lot like DOOM MAGNETIC.” – SOUTHERN FRIED WEIRDNESS

WILLIAM PAULEY III is an American writer of weird/bizarro fiction. He is best known for his ongoing DOOM saga, which chronicles the misadventures surrounding a mysterious purple television set. His fiction is a lot like Frankenstein’s monster in that its limbs have all been ripped from several genre corpses and sewn together, creating a completely unique beast that is sometimes terrifying, but always electric. Being a child of the 80’s, Pauley’s stories often seem to be taking place in a futuristic world that is not unlike the worlds found in that era’s science fiction films: dark, smoky, and full of fabulous hair.

Pauley’s fiction often focuses primarily on the antagonists or villains of the story, who are all usually wildly unique in their own ways. For example, in his book DOOM MAGNETIC!, the main villain is a man named Qoser, a Japanese assassin with a cue-ball eye who has the power to tear black holes into the atmosphere and use them as a means of transportation. He can also flip your skin inside out, survive decapitation, and control lightning, but cannot get over his severe abandonment issues caused by his mother.

He is currently working on his first novel, DEMOLITION YA-YA, and the sequel novellas to DOOM MAGNETIC! called DOOM MAGNETIC!! and DOOM MAGNETIC!!! (of which all three will be released later this year in a single volume released through LegumeMan Books).

In addition to being a writer, Pauley is also the owner of THE NEW FLESH, which publishes bite-sized weird fiction daily, and the co-editor of the TOE TAGS anthologies.

Pauley lives in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on July 31st, 1984 (such a great year for movies) and spends most of his life looking for his car keys.
