The cult section of the literary world

J. David Osborne

“Only so many good words can be said about [By the Time We Leave Here, We’ll Be Friends], so I’ll finish with this: if you’re looking to dip a toe into Bizarro fiction, if you’re in the mood for something old as time and fresh as an unborn baby, read this book.” –The Velvet

“Osborne’s debut…is paranoid, cold, brutal, haunting, mystifying (in a good way), and totally unforgettable.” – Paul Tremblay, author of The Little Sleep and In the Mean Time

“This lyrical spatter of inspired dementia… reminds me of Celine in serious nightmare mode.” –Kris Saknussemm, author of Zanesville, Private Midnight, and Enigmatic Pilot

“Like a rat in a bag of deer meat–this is BY THE TIME WE LEAVE talking–[it] scuttles around inside you as you read it, and you come to know that rat as your own heart. And it knows you back, has all along.” – Stephen Graham Jones, author of It Came from Del Rio

J David Osborne

J David Osborne is from Norman, Oklahoma. Using lean prose inspired by his literary heroes, James Ellroy and Cormac McCarthy, his stories and novels are surreal attempts to get at what he feels are important questions of morality and humanity. Feeling crushed by the weight of the self-importance of that last sentence, he feels it important to throw in the fact that his shit also tends to be funny and totally not up its own ass.

He loves tacos, his dog, and hip hop. He maintains an active Facebook page where he routinely makes a fool out of himself.
