Harlan Ellison, Disney Writer

Did you know that Harlan Ellison once worked as a writer for Walt Disney Studios? If not, I wouldn’t be surprised. He was fired his first day for a joke about making Disney porn.

  1. Would love to see someone like Ellison write for their animated movies. I love the animated movies from The Little Mermaid up until Hercules, the sequels were unnecessary, and the quality is going down. I did like Tangled though, the last five minutes were dark, and I have a man crush on Flynn Ryder now. Not to mention I have like a million sexual fantasies about the princesses!

  2. I know it’s not Disney, but Bradbury wrote one of my favorite kid movies of all time, LITTLE NEMO: ADVENTURES IN SLUMBERLAND.

  3. I’m not sure if he actually worked for them or was visiting the company with the intention of possibly working on a project with them. I heard him tell the entire story about it at a science fiction convention during a “reading,” but the story that he read only consisted of about ten minutes while he spoke about various amusing subjects for about two hours. It made me a fan.

I don’t remember the Disney story too well because my memory is terrible. I’m also pretty sure there was a rumor going around that he worked for them and was fired because he suggested the porn idea in seriousness rather than as a joke, but that’s obviously false.
