HOW DO WALRUSES MAKE YOU FEEL?
I’d like to switch gears for a moment and get personal with you, the reader.
Tell me, do you have walrusian friends or family members? Is your next-door neighbor a walrus? How about your boss?
Has a surprisingly gentle flipper touched your life in some memorable way? If not, then tell me how you would like to be touched. Don’t hold back. For a small fee, my friends (aka: a bunch of walruses) will be happy to make all your dreams come true.

Have you all been shamed into silence by the Powers-That-Be?

In Belgium many lives have been walrus-touched by the country’s most popular comic book series Jommeke. The series is about a young boy Jommeke who always visits professor Gobelijn for advice, adventure or for pills. Professor Gobelijn is a scientist (“professor in everything”) and is an estimated 72% walrus.
If you ever get taken hostage by some Flemish speaking Belgians, ask them about professor Gobelijn (see guide below on how to do this). They will be happy to tell you all about him. And if you manage to show just the right amount of interest, they might, for once, not chop the hostages head off.
If I happen to be one of the hostage takers, then maybe we could kill some time playing cards with my custom made professor Gobelijnwalrus deck.

I’m going to try my best to get abducted by Flemish-speaking Belgians now. How hard can it be?

I don’t believe I’ve ever been acquainted with a walrus but I’d like to meet them. They seem like very proud beings. Very proper and well-spoken.

Indeed! Walruses are good people.

I had commented on another entry (and included a video), but I thought a more proper response would fit here.
Truth be told, I AM a walrus. Or rather, part of me is. I am a furry, first and foremost, and I decided one day to adopt “Royce Tuxford Cobblepot” as my ‘fursona’, making him a big posh walrus and wannabe villain (brother to Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot). With the help of friends and the good people in Canada, I managed to construct a walrus costume that has made its way into YouTube and the hearts of certain law firms in Pittsburgh (in a good way! A few workers there see me as a celebrity of sorts). The head is wearing out, now, sadly, but I hope to get a new one soon enough, when I get the moneys. Here’s a link to where you can get your own, and truly become the walrus!!! (Check out the video on the same page!)

I discovered your two books and all your blog entries for Walrus Week just yesterday, and was overjoyed to find such wonderful love for the walrus displayed here, when this poor pinniped is so forgotten among the public (one person thought I was a beaver…). It makes me happier to feel that part of me is definitely a walrus, and deeply connected to such a handsome, loveable, beautiful creature.
I look forward to reading your two walrus publications, and hope you will create more in time! Thank you for everything you do, and for affirming my worth as a walrus in this world!! :-D Please feel free to contact me if you wish to know more about my walrus self and what I do! :)
One more pic of me (not my best…I have bigger and cuter foot flippers now): http://www.flickr.com/photos/9989346@N04/4591782219/

Thanks for sharing! I hope you feel I’ve done justice to the walrus and all the walrus entails…
