The cult section of the literary world

Petaluma, California Shines the Light (Flash Mobbing Rose: The Bizarro Zombie Musical}

If there’s one thing I love about labors of love, it’s that they are 100% enthusiasm-driven. People sign on, and stick around, because it’s exciting to be there. It’s FUN! It gets you caught up, and makes you want to see it through.

That’s what ROSE is, for all of us working on it. At some point, it went past being just another cool project and turned into a weird, epic quest with a life of its own.

Somewhere along the way, we all fell in love with Rose. And have been devoted to her ever since. To the point where we’d do just about anything for her. And that’s just how it is.

That said: it’s one thing for the filmmakers to get caught up in the process. It’s another to find, connect with, and grow an audience that feels as strongly about it as we do. Who bring their own mad enthusiasm and fierce determination to the mix.

And that’s where Petaluma, California just went above and beyond, in the most amazing way.

It started when awesome human dynamo Kenyetta Todd  saw my Zombie Walk Manifesto last week, here at Bizarro Central, and was instantly moved to throw a Zombie Flash Mob for Rose.

She laid out the route, contacted business owners, and got everybody’s okay.

Then she sent out the word to friends and fellow zombie lovers, 40 of whom showed up ready for un-death on the Fourth of July.

Kenyetta Todd

Kenyetta pulled this together pretty much by herself, running on nothing but sheer enthusiasm. Bizarro author and badass Constance Ann Fitzgerald kicked in behind the scenes, doing makeup and running one of several cameras shooting video of the event.

This, to me, is one of the coolest, most inspiring things to come out of ROSE yet: Kenyetta, Constance, and friends getting together, zombie-ing out, having an absolutely incredible time…

…and shooting some footage that is bound to wind up in the film, while they were at it. Just for fun. And to be a part of something special.

I LOVE THESE PEOPLE SOOOOOO MUCH!!! Can’t get over how hard, and how well, they threw down.

Just like everybody who’s given to the ROSE campaign. Every one of whom has our undying love and infinite thanks.

I gotta tell ya: I have never worked harder, played harder, fought harder, prayed harder, or become more utterly, annoyingly shameless than I am right now, in my absolute dedication to getting this motion picture made.

Kenyetta proves that you don’t need a huge organization, and thousands of people, to make something joyful and exhilarating happen. I urge you all to have exactly that much fun, as you throw down with ROSE.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THIS.

Yer most appreciative and happy pal,
Skipp

AND MEANWHILE… MEET DANNY! (ROSE’S CAMERAMAN, AND YOUR NEW FRIEND!)

This new ROSE promo for the Kickstarter campaign introduces Chris Cirigliano as “Danny”, Rose’s cameraman and best (human) friend. Back again are Phillip Kelly as “Jesus” and puppet designer Andrew Moore as “Satan”. ENJOY THE SHENANIGANS! And pleasure share with your friends!
